With the help of Vladimir Lossky and Fr Dumitru Stăniloae it shows that while in Orthodoxy there is a distinction between a liturgical/communal and mystical/personal prayer, both are seen as stemming from the tradition of the church and forming lex credendi. The article shows how the Hesychast practices of asceticism and prayer as presented by these authors guard the space for the otherness, the mystery and the infinity of God within the dogmatic teaching of the church, and through that also back into liturgy, the central expression of the church’s life. Cet article reprend l’axiome lex orandi, lex credendi avec une notion étendue de la loi de prière. Avec Vladimir Lossky et Père Dumitru Stăniloae il établit que dans l’Orthodoxie il s’agit d’une distinction entre une prière liturgique/commune et mystique/personnelle. Cet article établit comment les pratiques hésychastes d’ascétisme et de prière, telles qu’elles sont présentées par ces auteurs offrent un espace pour l’altérité, le mystère et l’infini de Dieu dans l’enseignement dogmatique de l’Église, et démontre que la liturgie, qui est l’expression centrale de la vie de l’Église, offre également cet espace. |
