Focusing on the main monographs and discourses, it determines which milestones have been established in this study, which main lines were set out and which points of discussion were introduced. The article notes a controversy between researchers concentrating on Couperus’s life and person on the one hand, and on the other hand their colleagues focusing on his literary works. The two orientations have been extremely productive. They both required scientific text and source editions, and they both made it possible for researchers to map the world of Couperus more and more precisely, at the same time contributing to the development of the study of (Dutch) literature in general. |
