Abstract :
This article provides an edition of the correspondence between the journalist and philosopher Jean-Henri-Samuel Formey in Berlin and the extremely well-connected bookseller Prosper Marchand in The Hague. The fifty letters in French disclose a treasure of information about the Dutch booktrade in the period 1736-1749, about intellectual discussions, and about the daily business of editorial work on all levels. The correspondence shows not only how an author and a publisher communicated with one another, but also gives insight into international Huguenot networks and the history of the Republic of Letters in the eighteenth century.
