Professional Codes have been established by associations of ministers and pastoral workers and by most of the Dutch dioceses. The author focuses on the ethical character of pastoral professional codes, which can give only the principles for professional pastoral behavior. After that, based on the Code of Canon Law, a number of principles regarding professional pastoral behavior are presented. By using these principles pastoral professional codes can be formulated in accordance with profession and the concrete circumstances. The article ends with a short reflection on the canonical character of these ethical codes. |
