On the basis of the consultation of a private collection of hitherto unpublished manuscripts relative to this lady of the Enlightenment, we are able to present a plethora of details concerning her life, to clarify certain aspects of his character, and publish an ‘Essai sur la générosité’. This essay is very characteristic of the spirit of the times, but written with empathy and with a clearly feminine touch. |
