Une analyse montre que ces tombes essayent, sous certains aspects, d’imiter les temples contemporains. En comparent ces résultats avec la décoration d’objets tels que cercueils ou linceuls d’une part, avec des textes sur papyrus accompagnant les momies d’autre part, une image cohérente de la religion funéraire émerge qui, loin d’être en rupture avec les traditions plus anciennes, en constitue au contraire un développement organique. The decoration of private tombs in the graeco-roman period differs markedly from those of older periods. A close analysis can demonstrate that these tombs try to emulate contemporary temples under certain aspects. By comparing these results with the decoration of objects like coffins or painted shrouds on the one hand, texts on papyri accompanying the mummy on the other, a consistent picture of the funerary religion of the period emerges. It moreover turns out to be not a break with older traditions but an organic development of them. |
