First Enkidu lives with the wild animals defending them like a shepherd. When he gets acquainted with the civilized world, his first work is defending the domesticated animals like the wild animals and then he moves on to defend the oppressed people of Uruk. When Gilgameš steps away from the oppression Enkidu recognizes that he is truly a king. As a friend Enkidu is able to help Gilgameš with the expertise from his unusual life. In all he plays the role for which he was made, like holding a mirror in which the king may see how to live like a shepherd of his people, but at the end he shows him even his death. |
