La popularité de ce récit est corroborée par le fait qu’Adhémard Leclère a pu relever il y a plus d’un siècle, une version du même conte de la bouche d’un locuteur bilingue phnong-khmer. L’auteur ne nous a hélas pas transmis le texte en langue phnong. Ce texte représente le premier texte d’un parler phnong de l’Ouest noté avec l’alphabet phonétique international et sur la base d’une analyse phonologique. Notre introduction présente une rapide analyse des récits traditionnels et pose les bases d’une analyse d’un corpus plus vaste. A ces deux titres le présent article s’adresse à la fois au linguiste, au spécialiste de littérature comparée et à l’ethnologue. In this paper the author gives a phonemic transcription, a word-to-word as well as proper translation of a popular folkstale of the Phnong ethnic group from the cambodian Province of Mondulkiri. The popularity of this tale is corroborated by the fact that Adhémard Leclère was able to collect a version of the same tale from a bilingual phnong-khmer speaker more than one century ago. Unfortunately he did not concern himself with the transcription of the original version in the phnong language, giving us only a translation in French. This text is the first attempt to transcribe a piece of traditional literature of a western dialect of the phnong language. Our transcription is based on a phonemic analysis of the language and employs the symbols of the International phonetic alphabet. Our introduction proposes an approach to the traditional phnong literature. This approach is based on an analysis of the technical vocabulary used to refer to the narration of tales and the recitation of poetry in the phnong language. On both these accounts this paper should be of interest for linguists, researchers of comparative literature and ethnologists alike. |
