Des questions nouvelles se posent au sujet du diaconat et spécialement de la sacramentalité de ce ministère. Deux pistes sont à explorer: le diaconat comme participation à la plénitude sacramentelle de l’épiscopat et sa confirmation sacramentelle au Christ-Serviteur. L’article explore ces pistes à la lumière de la théologie de S. Thomas d’Aquin sur le caractère sacramentel et sa finalité. En partant des tria munera (annoncer, sanctifier, rassembler) qui ont conduit Vatican II à affirmer la sacramentalité de l’épiscopat, on peut mettre en valeur la spécificité du ministère diaconal : alors que la collégialité de l’épiscopat est immédiatement destinée à l’exercice conjoint des tria munera, la structure propre de l’ordo diaconal destine celui-ci à exercer l’un ou l’autre des tria munera au sein de l’Église locale. De là apparaît la plénitude « ministérielle » qui caractérise le diaconat au sein du sacrement de l’ordre. The change in direction operated by Vatican II in the theology of the ministries obliges us to rethink the unity of the sacrament of order and the diversity of the three ordained ministries. New questions are raised on the subject of the deaconate as participation in the sacramental fullness of the episcopacy and its sacramental confirmation to Christ-the-Servant. This article explores these questions in the light of the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas concerning the sacramental character and its finality. Starting from the tria munera (proclamation, sanctification, assembling) which lead Vatican II to assert the sacramentality of the episcopacy, one can underline the specificity of the deacon’s ministry : while the collegiality of the episcopacy is immediately destined to the joint exercise of the tria munera, the distinctive structure of the deacon’s ordo destines this minister to exercise one or other of the tria munera within a local Church. From this the « ministerial » fullness which characterizes the deaconate of becomes apparent. |
