Document Details : Title: Note sur les mots moyens-indiens dans les inscriptions en vieux-khmèr Author(s): BHATTACHARYA, Kamaleswar Journal: Journal Asiatique Volume: 281 Issue: 3-4 Date: 1993 Pages: 393-395 DOI: 10.2143/JA.281.3.2006126 Abstract : Some Middle Indic words occuring in the Old Khmer inscriptions, together with those met within the Sanskrit inscriptions from Cambodia, were noticed in the author's Recherches sur le vocabulaire des inscriptions sanskrites du Cambodge. Here an attempt is made to complete the list of the former, given their importance. It is contended that some Middle Indic forms encountered in Buddhist inscriptions coming from adjoining regions, now in Thai territory, and dating from the 7th-8th centuries, probably bear witness to the presence of Theravāda in those areas. |
