Document Details : Title: Remarriage and the Church of England Author(s): WOODS, Thimothy J. Journal: Marriage, Families & Spirituality Volume: 6 Issue: 2 Date: Autumn 2000 Pages: 285-287 DOI: 10.2143/INT.6.2.2004593 Abstract : Since the 1970’s, the Church of England has been trying to reach a consensus in the matter of remarrying divorced people in church, when their former spouse is still living. Following a strong affirmation of marriage as a gift of God, in a teaching document entitled “Marriage” which was published in September 1999, the House of Bishops commissioned a working party to produce a paper for discussion about remarriage. “Marriage in Church after Divorce” was published early in 2000. |
