Abstract :

The construction of the «Valida-ye 'Abd al-'Azîz Xân» mosque in Bukhara has been erroneously attributed by various authors to the Jânid khan 'Abd al-'Azîz II (1645-1680) or to the Šeybânid 'Abdallâh (1583-1598). The study of the inscriptions on the monument and of the vaqf documents enable the author of the present article to identify the patron as 'Abd al-'Azîz Xân b. 'Ubaydallâh Xân the Šeybânid and thus to date the construction of the mosque to the years 1540-1550.
