Ebeling wijdt er iets meer dan één pagina aan, waar hij vaststelt dat de constante groep van namen, zo manifest aanwezig in de 17de en 18de eeuw, in de loop van de 19de eeuw zijn vaste greep op de markt lijkt te verliezen. Gerritzen, daarentegen, is de opvatting toegedaan dat we met grote zekerheid kunnen beweren dat de naamgeving vanaf de middeleeuwen tot aan de jaren zestig van de 20ste eeuw geen ingrijpende wijzigingen heeft ondergaan. First Name Giving in the 19th Century in Edam-Volendam We do not have a clear view on the choice of first names in 19th Century Netherlands. Ebeling wrote little more than one page on the subject, assuming that the static group of first names obviously present in the 17th and 18th century looses its grip on the market during the 19th century. Gerritzen, on the contrary, states that there have been no significant changes in the choice of first names from the Middle Ages upto the 1960s. |
