Document Details : Title: Necessary Canonical Reform Subtitle: Urgent Issues for Action Author(s): CORIDEN, James A. Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 26 Issue: 2 Date: summer 2001 Pages: 147-165 DOI: 10.2143/LS.26.2.908 Abstract : Canon Law is primarily and principally a ministry within the church. It is a ministry circumscribed by the theology of communion and the concrete realities of congregations of Christ's faithful. It is a ministry devoted to the maintenance of Christian freedom and good order within and among particular and local Catholic churches. Canonical ministry assists in the governance of the church in the present time, but it also looks forward into the future, searching for the Spirit's guidance. |
