The aim of this brief paper is to adduce an argument in support of the theory that the “meaning of the [Egyptian] causative construction [consisting of rd(y) + prospective stp.f] must have been that one gives, with direct object unspecified, so that something else might happen”, with stp.f forming part of an adverbial clause.
