Abstract :
Nearly a thousand Vaiṣṇava devotees have been mentioned by the poet Nābhādās in the ‘Garland of Devotees' (Bhaktamāl), a Brajabhāṣā (Hindī) hagiography composed circa A.D. 1600. Each devotee is described briefly, within the limits of one chappai stanza. Such conciseness has the advantage of only pointing out a devotee's most striking characteristics.
