Abstract :
This article presents one sermon out of a project about Christian sermons in Arabic language from the 17th and 18th centuries. The project itself deals with sermons given by both Catholic missionaries and those of the oriental clergy who had been educated in Rome. It aims at shedding light upon the period before the “Arabic Renaissance” (the “Nahḍah” in which Christians were as a matter of fact over-represented) and at discovering by this way the mental, intellectual, and spiritual background of both the Christians and the Nahḍah.
