Document Details : Title: Medieval Islamic Philosophy and Theology Subtitle: Bibliographical Guide (1996-1998) Author(s): DRUART, Th.-A. Journal: MIDEO Volume: 24 Date: 2000 Pages: 381-414 DOI: 10.2143/MID.24.0.565636 Abstract : Recently Hans Daiber has published a monumental Bibliography of Islamic Philosophy in two volumes covering material from the 15th Century to the present. This installement of the Medieval Islamic Philosophy and Theology Bibliographical Guide does not intend to compete with this important work. Yet, its publication may be useful for readers who would like to focus on what has recently been published — Daiber follows a strict alphabetical order. Besides, its organization is different since it gathers under the name of each “faylasuf” or “mutakallim” not only editions and translations but also secondary literature, whereas for the latter one needs first to consult Daiber’s volume I which refers to numbered items in vol. I. Furthermore, this “Guide” lists several items Daiber could not have yet included or did not know of, before completing his manuscript and sending it to the press, just as this manuscript was submitted before Diaber's book came out. |
