Document Details : Title: New Stanzas of the Lamentations of Isis and Nephtys Author(s): COENEN, M. Journal: Orientalia Lovaniensia Periodica Volume: 31 Date: 2000 - 2005 Pages: 5-23 DOI: 10.2143/OLP.31.0.565537 Abstract : In this article the papyrus Bodleian Library Ms. Egypt.d.8 (P) is presented and published. This papyrus appears to be a part of the larger pBM 10332. It contains hitherto unknown stanzas of the mortuary liturgy called The Lamentations of Isis and Nephthys. Comparison with the published and other unpublished copies of the same liturgy sheds a completely new light on the composition of the text, which must be much longer than has always been assumed. The text of the Bodleian Library papyrus is given in translation with an extensive line comment. A photograph of the papyrus and a hieroglyphic transcription of the hieratic text are added. |
