Abstract :

This is a continuation of a translation with commentary of a basic text of Navyanyāya, “New Logic”, concerning the theory of inference. Here Raghunātha, the author of the Dīdhiti, takes up again the important question of relations that comes in in the definition of the Invariable Concomitance between the Reason (hetu-) and the object to be established (sādhya-) – a question that he had already broached in a previous part of the work (translated and commented upon in JA. 1988, pp. 147 ff.). Jagadīśa's commentary helps us to understand the technical points precisely. – Detailed analysis at the end of the paper (Summary).
