Abstract :
Having examined, in view of their relationship to the Synoptic Gospels, several accounts belonging somehow to the Johannine Passion Narrative, I concluded each time that the hypothesis of a direct dependence upon the Synoptists, combined with a certain amount of Johannine literary creativity, appears to be the most probable explanation for the similarities and dissimilarities between the Fourth and the antecedent Synoptic Gospels. I would like now to verify whether the same theory applies to the Johannine account of the crucifixion and death of Jesus (Jn 19,16b-42).
