Abstract :
For centuries the Qalamun, the mountainous area between Damascus and Homs in Syria, has been populated with Byzantine and Syrian Orthodox communities. In a few sanctuaries, wall paintings, unfortunately often damaged, testify to its flourishing Christian culture in the period of teh eleventh to the thirteenth century.
