Een probleem dat zich echter stelt, is de inconsistentie van spelling van oude namen. Vaak duiken zeer uiteenlopende varianten op. De computer zou een hulpmiddel kunnen zijn voor het onderzoeken en het groeperen van deze verschillende namen uit historische bronnen. Het creëren van een geautomatiseerd systeem zou echter heel complex kunnen zijn. Daarom is een parsimonische benadering van groot belang. The Combination of Historical Data by Name Digitising is very important in historical and onomastic research. The main issue in this field, is the rather inconsistent orthography of old names. One can find sometimes very diverse variants of a name. A computer could help in researching and grouping this names out of historical sources. The creation of an automated system could be very complex. A parsimonal approach is therefore undispensable. |
