Abstract :

The Ardvahišt Yašt is not a proper yast, but a heterogeneous text which the twenty two Yašts collector called upon. As Ṛta Vahišta belongs to the divine category of the Amṛtas Spantas and as, therefore, that deity is not object of sacrificial honours, a Yazata, a yast could not exist in any way to worship that deity. Ṛta Vahišta, the excellent harmony, in the young Avesta, soon merged in Journal Asiatique 291.1-2 (2003): 97-136 a deified text dealing with it, the Y 27.14, which was glorified, commented or illustrated in one of the first chapters of each gāhānīg book of the sassanian Avesta. However, the author of the Ardvahišt Yašt, which deals not only with the Y 27.14, but also with the Y 54.1, instead of calling upon such a kind of texts, turned to materials, the ones of old avestan kind and the others of almost atharvavedic type close to that of the manqras we find in the Vidēvdād.
