Few of these burials were in isolated places, most were part of cemeteries located on the fringes of the contemporary habitation areas. Various types of burial container were used for the disposal of the dead, ranging from simple pits to rock-cut tombs with several rooms. The article presents a survey of the burials found in the Beirut Central District during recent excavations. |
