Abstract :
Within the theme of the Nijmegen conference on 'Eastern Christians in Western Europe - The Burden of the Past and the Challenge of the Diaspora', the author has chosen to look at children in the Coptic Orthodox Church in Great Britain. More specifically, She focus on the Sunday school activities in which these children participate. I ask how the 'challenge of the diaspora', as perceived by emigrant Copts, is reflected in the Sunday school activity of the Church. It is my premise that this activity rests on particular ideas about children and childhood.
