Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 116 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2003 Pages: 9-14 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.116.1.340 Abstract : The present edition of the Old Nubian text uncovered at Ab Kanarti (in the Sudan) is based upon the text presented by S. Donadoni in Studi Classici e Orientali, 14 (1965), p. 24-27, but it contains significant adjustments in reading and also provides a transcription of the verso, overlooked by Donadoni. The text is a private letter dealing with agricultural matters. Preserved on parchment, it has lost probably no more than six letters per line, and the writer's general argument can be recovered. The edition includes introduction, transcription, translation and commentary; in addition a plate of both recto and verso is attached. |
