Document Details : Title: Syro Anatolica Scripta Minora III Author(s): LEBRUN, René Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 116 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2003 Pages: 1-7 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.116.1.339 Abstract : R. Lebrun defines the meaning of the lycian word huwedri- as «meeting, gathering of a group» (lat. concilium) and links it back to a louvite root. A. Lemaire finds a new occurrence of the louvite anthroponym «Loukasi» in an Aramaean inscription from Meydancikkale. R. Gérard suggests a new etymology for the words «Lydos» and «Lydia»: instead of deriving them from the indo-european *leudho-/leudhi- «people», he explains the ethnic *Lud- from the name of the louvite country, Lûya. |
