Abstract :
The author notes that it is customary to offer money for the celebration in favour of the deceased. If the use itself is not reproved, it is unacceptable for theology that in this way one intends to appropriate to someone the Eucharist, making a priest a debtor for those who have paid. In exchange priests are asked for receipts and bills. But like the death of Christ, the Eucharist is for the salvation of all. That misconception has destroyed the cult of the Church, multiplying priests and altars, making other ministries disappear, emptying the churches and distancing people from communion. One’s destination after death is determined by behaviour in life, not by the money paid for one after death. At most one can pray to facilitate the soul reaching its resting place, freeing it from the attacks of the devils of the air. Background and comments.
