Je restitue en ce sens l’histoire interne de sa (méta)critique du paradigme épistémologique moderne en la situant réflexivement dans son propre récit de l’histoire de la philosophie. Ce récit comporte deux moments principaux. Le premier concerne ce qu’il dénomme le «tournant réflexif» de la modernité (§1-3), tandis que le second touche plutôt à la «continuité-dans-la-transformation» que marque le tournant métacritique initié par Kant (§4-5), la métacritique prolongeant tout en infléchissant de manière décisive l’épistémologie moderne, c’est-à-dire l’interrogation sur les conditions et limites de la raison dans le contexte de la révolution scientifique. In this article I examine the role of the concept of «metacritical» in the work of Charles Taylor. To do so I restore the internal history of his (meta)criticism of the modern epistemological paradigm by situating it reflexively in its own account of the history of philosophy. This account contains two main parts. The first deals with what he calls the «reflexive turn» of modernity (§1-3), while the second mainly concerns the «continuity-in-transformation» characterised by the metacritical turn initiated by Kant (§4-5), metacriticism prolonging while decisively impacting modern epistemology, that is, questioning the conditions and limits of reason in the context of the scientific revolution. |
