This story was reconstructed primarily from the correspondence of Sidney Jellicoe, who played a major role in the formation and early life of the society. It is his perspective and motives therefore that frame the account that follows. Other important sources came from the archives of Harry M. Orlinsky (1908-1992) and Charles T. Fritsch (1912-1989), both of whom were Jellicoe’s friends and collaborators in the enterprise. All archival sources used to write this account, and more besides, have been digitized and are freely accessible online. |
