Cet article s’intéresse aux preuves archéologiques de la violence à l’aube des premières dynasties. Il passe en revue les données issues des travaux menés à Adaïma et à Hiérakonpolis, s’interroge sur la question du sacrficie humain, du statut des tombe subsidiaires à Abydos et dans les grands cimetières protodynastiques. Il prend tout autant en compte les documents iconographiques (vases décorés, mur peint de la Tombe 100 de Hiérakonpolis et palettes historiées) pour s’interroger sur les pratiques sociales de la violence et sa rethorique politique au moment ou l’État se constitue en Égypte. From the myth of the unification of Egypt to the earliest known historical documents, violence seems ubiquitous. This article focuses on archaeological evidence of violence at the dawn of the early dynasties. It reviews the data from work carried out in Adaïma and Hierakonpolis; the reality of human sacrifice; and the status of subsidiary tombs at Abydos and in large Early Dynastic cemeteries. This paper also considers the corpus of iconographic documents (Decorated vessels, the painted wall of Tomb 100 at Hierakonpolis and decorated palettes) to question the social practices of violence and its political rhetoric when the Egyptian state was forming. |
