The problem of the identification of Leontius of Byzantium, one of the Οrigenists’ leaders known from the writings of Cyril of Scythopolis, with Leontius the Monk, the author of the important polemical treatises, has been dealt with. The auteur analyses the five fragments from Leontius’ works (one of these fragments has not yet been analyzed by researchers). These fragments indicate that Leontius of Byzantium probably supported the theory of the pre-existence of the souls, without spreading this theory on Christology. |
