Document Details : Title: Moon Computation in the Aramaic Astronomical Book Author(s): DRAWNEL, Henryk Journal: Revue de Qumran Volume: 23 Issue: 1 Date: 2007 Pages: 3-41 DOI: 10.2143/RQ.23.1.3290523 Abstract : The Aramaic fragments of the Astronomical Book from Qumran were published by Milik in 1976, but since then they have attracted little scholarly attention. Their interpretation has been influenced by Milik's understanding of the Aramaic text and Neugebauer's explanation of the astronomical content. Both of them claimed that the fragments compute the illumination of the moon's surface; the text, however, tells the reader a different story: the calculation deals mainly with periods of moon visibility on the sky during the night and day. These calculations find their main inspiration in the Babylonian astrological series Enūma Anu Enlil. Les fragments araméens du Livre Astronomique d'Énoch furent publiés par Milik en 1976, mais ils n'attirèrent pas l'interet des savants. Leur interprétation fut influencée par l'interprétation du texte donnée par Milik et par l'analyse astronomique de Neugebauer. Ces deux savants affirmèrent que les fragments continssent le calcul de l'illumination de la surface de la lune. L'analyse du texte araméen permet d'arriver à des conclusions différentes: les fractions astronomiques calculent principalement les périodes de la visibilité de la lune pendant la nuit et le jour. Ce comput astronomique ne fut pas inventé par les prêtres juifs, mais le calcul lunaire babylonien utilisé dans la série astrologique Enūma Anu Enlil devint la principale source d'inspiration. |
