However, not all of these gates were city gates, while some gates had more than one name, which has led to confusion. Therefore, this article identifies the names and the location of the city gates of Isfahan in the Safavid and Qajar period. Les noms des portes de la ville d’Ispahan apparaissent souvent dans les sources persanes et européennes bien qu’il ne reste plus de trace aujourd’hui de ces constructions. Leur identification pose un défi: toutes n’étaient pas des portes de la ville proprement dites et certaines avaient plusieurs noms, ce qui a créé une confusion chez les voyageurs qui les décrivaient. Pour y rémédier, le présent article s’attache à identifier les noms et les emplacements des portes d’Ispahan aux époques safavide et qadjare. |
