Abstract :
This paper deals with the religious architecture in the Roman province of Epirus Vetus. It aims first of all to distinguish the characteristic elements of Epirote architecture by comparing them with the surrounding regions. This leads to the reconsideration of previously formulated hypotheses, such as those of elements specific to Nicopolis. This examination allows us to highlight several types of plans, the main ones being basilicas with rooms annexed to the sanctuary, simple basilicas, churches with one nave and triconchs. The careful examination of the contexts in which these basilicas were built, allows us to associate the plans with specific functions.
