Abstract :

The stela found at Örderkburnu at the end of the 19th c., considered as undeciphrable by many generations of epigraphists, has just now delivered its contents. It is a funerary stela in Aramaic of Sam’al dedicated to Ḥayyan, king of Sam’al, who asks his sons and successors to strengthen anew the throne of Sam’al and to make offerings to his gods, Rakib’il and Kubaba, and to his nbš at the grave for his afterlife.
