Abstract :

The Covid pandemic forces us to raise again the question of theodicy, which historically has been silenced for a long time by a focus on human sin. Assigning the predicate of omnipotence to God raises the question of how it can be that there are outbreaks of epidemics at all if God is believed to be both benevolent and responsive to human beings. In terms of intellectual history, the possible aporia that becomes apparent here has led to models of the world that no longer include the concept of God. This cannot hide the fact that there are still religious perceptions and practices of salvation right up to the present in the modern age.
