Abstract :
This paper endeavours to show that Jakob Curtaveli, while writing the «Martyrdom of the holy Shushanik», used both of the old translations of the Gospels in Georgian : the Adysh recension and the «Protovulgata». If this is true, we have to consider that the Protovulgata is as old as the Adysh translation. Then, the solution would be to adscribe the Adysh translation to the Georgian monks in Palestine, while the Protovulgata could have been translated in Kartli.
