Abstract :
Among the corpus of apocryphal Johannine apocalypses is a dialogue between John and Abraham on the fate of souls after death. Designated 3 Apocryphal Apocalypse of John (also 4 Apocalypse of John), this text is extant in two Greek manuscripts, close to 40 in Church Slavonic, and another 10 in Bulgarian. The present paper presents the first edition of the Greek tradition with an English translation. The introduction offers details on the full range of manuscript sources and their publication history, along with a discussion of the text’s place among Byzantine question-and-answer (erōtapokriseis) literature.
