Abstract :
The present paper focuses on the use of logic (including Aristotelian logic) by Arabic-speaking theologians in the formative period of theology in Arabic, especially in polemical settings. It attempts to draw on the evidence regarding a somewhat neglected edge of the monotheistic triangle, namely the Arabic-speaking Jewish theologians in the third/ninth and fourth/tenth century.
