Abstract :

Examining, on the one hand, the way in which the instance of the letter and the textual referent relate to the dimension of the unconscious in Freud and Lacan, and borrowing, on the other hand, from Jean-Bellemin Noël his notion of «the unconscious of the text», this article focuses on the phenomenon of the «whites» of the biblical text. To assert that the Bible has an unconscious seems legitimate because it is passed through by a radical not knowing which prevents the text from coinciding with itself and its reader, and which is the basis of interpretation in an inventive relationship to the meaning.
