There is the sense of security, but also of the fear that the dwelling is threatened by vague forces. A Freudian analysis of this relationship can clarify a lot but also needs to be extended with an existentialist approach. After all, in addition to the fear of penetration, Warmond’s poems also thematise the fear of the other and his worldview. At the same time, this other also has the opportunity to break the isolated situation of the lyrical ‘I’. However, because authentic contact with this other fails to occur, much of Warmond’s early verses end up in a deadlock. |
