Abstract :
The first section of this article compares some features (primarily but not exclusively formal) of the third edition of Barry J. Kemp’s Ancient Egypt, Anatomy of a Civilization (Routledge, London & New York 2018; ISBN 978-0-415-82725-6 [hardcover]; xvi + 398 pp.; 137 figures + 11 photographs) to both the first (1989) and second (2006) editions. The second segment discusses how the revised edition of Aidan Dodson’s Amarna Sunset – Nefertiti, Tutankhamun, Ay, Horemheb, and the Egyptian Counter-Reformation (The American University in Cairo Press, Cairo and New York 2018; ISBN 978-977-416-859-8; xix + 212 pp.; 5 maps; 98 figures) differs from the first (2009) edition.
