Nor have they been studied from a sociolinguistic perspective. These loanwords and switches of code are sociolinguistic tools deliberately used to produce certain effects in the reader. This article explores the literary functions of these loanwords and switches of code as a resource with which the author of the Gospel attempts to reinforce the Christian identity of his community. |
