Abstract :

Can we get out of theology? According to French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy we can’t, since «God» keeps appearing as a writing feature, and since a certain «faith» can even still be at work, a faith that needs to be distinguished from religion and belief. Moreover, beyond the idea of a persistence of theology, Nancy emphasizes the importance of what is at play at the very heart of Christianity, that he describes as a «deconstruction of Christianity» which affects reason itself. The authors of this article seek to situate and to expose the workings of this «deconstruction of Christianity», after drawing a parallel between the path of Jean-Luc Nancy and that of Gérard Granel, another philosopher with Catholic roots.
