Abstract :

In this article, we have highlighted some common features in both rituals described in the narrative of the woman suspected of adultery of Numbers 5:11-31 and in the healing of the man born blind in John 9. Thus, we propose that just as the episode of Jesus sending the blind man to the pool of Siloam parallels the account of Elisha sending Naaman to wash in the Jordan river in order to be cured of leprosy (2 Kings 5:10-14), Jesus making mud out of his own saliva and the dust of the earth also parallels the process in Numbers 5, where priests were to make mud out of holy water and dust.
