Groove pancreatitis: a rare form of chronic pancreatitis
Groove pancreatitis is an uncommon, but distinctive form of chronic pancreatitis affecting the “groove” between the superior aspect of the pancreatic head, the duodenum and the common bile duct. It has remained a diagnostic dilemma for radiologists, pathologists and clinicians since its first description. Differentiating groove pancreatitis from a malignancy can be extremely difficult. In certain cases, however, the imaging features allow the radiologist to prospectively suggest the diagnosis.
