A 76-year-old male patient with acute kidney disease and hypercalcaemia
The medical history of a 76-year-old male patient with acute renal failure and hypercalcaemia is discussed. A biopsy of the bronchial mucosa and the bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid revealed underlying sarcoidosis. The patient’s kidney function improved significantly under treatment with corticosteroids. The kidney disease was assumed to be secondary to the granulomatous infiltration of the kidney. The presentation of concomitant pulmonary and renal sarcoidosis is rare.
