Abstract :
Aan de hand van de ziektegeschiedenis van een 32-jarige man worden de pathogenese, de diagnostiek en de behandeling van ileo-ileale invaginatie op basis van heterotope maagmucosa bij volwassenen beschreven.

Ileo-ileal intussusception in adults due to heterotopic gastric mucosa
While intussusception of the bowel is relatively common in children, it remains a rare condition in adults. The non-specific and variable clinical presentation renders the pre-operative diagnosis of intussusception a challenging and difficult task. The intussusception is usually secondary to a definable organic lesion that functions as a lead point.
Because of the possible incidence of malignancy, surgical intervention is required in most cases. Reduction of the intussuscepted bowel is considered safe for benign lesions in order to limit the extent of resection.
We report the clinical history of a 32-year-old man with an ileo-ileal intussusception due to a nodular lesion of heterotopic gastric mucosa. It is a rare, benign congenital anomaly that can occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract and may act as the lead point of an intussusception.
